Seventeen-year-old Evelyn Grace is dead.
Her body has finally arrived at Stidham County Mortuary, where newly qualified forensic pathologist Dr Calder and Investigator Ryans, assistant to the County Coroner, have been tasked with finding out what happened to her.
What should be a routine post-mortem examination soon becomes anything but.
As the evidence begins to defy conventional explanation, the investigators find themselves confronting a disturbing possibility: perhaps not every mystery has a logical answer.
